Why Qi Gong

Are you looking for a holistic way to support both your physical and emotional health as we transition into the colder, darker months of Fall and Winter? This time of transition can be difficult, and with busy schedules it’s easy to let self-care slip. Qi Gong offers a time-tested practice to nourish your physical, mental, emotional, and energetic well-being in one simple practice.

 

Qi Gong is a traditional Daoist somatic healing and longevity cultivation method. In Daoism, emotions are considered both a root cause of illness and also a pathway to health. Our emotions directly influence the flow of Qi (energy) in the body, which in turn affects our organs function and overall physical structure. Each emotion resides in the body, and through Qi Gong, we have the opportunity to identify and release emotions that no longer serve us while intentionally cultivating a deep somatic sense of safety, kindness, and balanced energy flow. At the same time, the practice strengthens and opens the physical body through coordinated breath and movement.

Qi Gong reminds us that all of life is interconnected, that we are between the Earth and the Sky, that the Qi of the Universe is available to us, is within us. This practice of interconnection is the most potent when practiced in community, where we can easily feel the benefit of mutually supporting one another.

 

Regularly practicing Qi Gong can unwind long-held tension patterns in the body, reduce physical pain, and lead to more ease and connection in daily life.

Join me in learning and practicing the Jin Jing Gong tradition of Qi Gong. This is a movement-based style of Qi Gong with synchronized breathing and guided meditative focus. This style is performed standing and is adaptable for varying ability and fitness levels. This class is offered in person with an option to participate online via livestream.

 

Whether you are dealing with a chronic illness, life stressors, or seeking to enhance your sense of well being this form of Qi Gong is a useful practice to integrate into your life.

Join Dr. Tara Radsliff for a 10-week journey into this traditional healing modality, where you will learn:

- Intentionally cultivate a somatic sense of safety

- Fundamentals of Qi Gong movements

- A complete set of movements for your personal home practice

About Qi Gong

Qi Gong is a modern term describing a practice that enhances the free flow of Qì through the body. The Jin Jing Gong stresses the relationship between the material (tendons) and immaterial (channels, or energetic tendons). This form works by focusing on stretching the physical tendons through movement which generates and circulates Yang Qì through the channels. This increased circulation breaks up blockages in the body and improves the free flow of Qì. In addition to supporting the movement of Qi within the body, Qi Gong also connects the practitioner to the abundance of Qi that is all around them.

 

Regularly practicing Qi Gong can unwind long-held tension patterns in the body, reduce physical pain, and lead to more ease and connection in daily life.

The Lineage Holder of the Jin Jing Gong, Master Wang QingYu lives in Chengdu, China. His teacher was Li Jie, a Taoist priest of the Quanzhen Pai School. Dr. Tara Radsliff studied and received authorization to teach from one of Master Wang's main disciples, Heiner Fruehauf, and had the honor of meeting Master Wang in China in 2019 and again in 2024.
